Indian Club Simon D Kehoe oak
Toldi Kehoe
Did you know that the traditional shape of our Toldi Kehoe clubs is based on a design developed over 100 years ago by American fitness enthusiast and author Sim D. Kehoe?
During a visit to Europe in the 1860s, Kehoe discovered the Indian club art of the famous fitness expert Professor Harrison. At the time, Harrison swung enormous clubs and was considered the strongest man in England.
After returning home, Kehoe began making his own versions of Indian clubs in various shapes. He soon started distributing them in America, increasing their popularity and use across the country.
Sim D. Kehoe’s club shape stands out among Indian clubs, with rounded bodies that widen significantly below the handle and then taper quickly towards the base.
They are great fun to swing because their weight sits higher in the club body than in traditional designs, and much closer to the grip. This produces a tighter swing vector, somewhat reminiscent of a whip, and presents a challenge compared with classic shapes. They are therefore a great choice for experienced swingers who want to try something more demanding.
Recommended for: dedicated club enthusiasts, open-minded strength and conditioning coaches, anyone seeking new challenges for their strength, and women practising Persian Meel exercises.
Every club is unique, as the natural variation in wood makes it impossible to produce two completely identical pieces. Products made from different woods may vary in colour, grain and weight due to the wood’s natural characteristics. Although we try to pair pieces with weights as close as possible, slight weight differences may occur. These do not affect the quality or reliability of the clubs; they emphasise their individuality and natural beauty.
